Radiant Blinds & Awnings recently completed a bespoke residential awning installation in Cobham, Surrey, combining two new motorised Weinor Cassita awnings with the recovery and refurbishment of the homeowner’s existing Dutch canopy. The aim was to create a smart, coordinated finish across all three areas, using the same fabric throughout so that the new awnings and existing canopy perfectly complement one another.
Two Motorised Weinor Cassita Awnings
We supplied and installed two Weinor Cassita cassette awnings, an excellent choice for homeowners looking for stylish, reliable and convenient outdoor shading.
Both awnings were fitted with Somfy motors and are operated using a Somfy remote control handset, allowing the homeowners to extend or retract their awnings effortlessly at the touch of a button. For additional reassurance, we also installed Somfy vibration wind sensors. These clever sensors detect excessive movement caused by increasing wind conditions and can automatically instruct the awnings to retract, helping to protect them from potential wind damage when conditions suddenly change.
Bespoke Shallow Gutter Brackets
Every property presents its own installation challenges, which is why Radiant regularly manufactures bespoke awning brackets to achieve a secure and professional installation. For this Cobham property, we supplied bespoke shallow gutter brackets, specially made to suit the building and provide the appropriate fixing solution for the two Weinor Cassita awnings.
Existing Dutch Canopy Recovered to Match
Rather than replacing the homeowner’s existing Dutch canopy, which was still perfectly serviceable, we gave it a new lease of life with a complete awning recover. The canopy was recovered using the same fabric selected for the two new Weinor Cassita awnings, creating a beautifully coordinated appearance across the property. Matching the fabric transformed the overall look, allowing the existing canopy and new awnings to complement each other as part of one carefully considered shading scheme. As part of the refurbishment, we also replaced the Dutch canopy cords and wheels, ensuring that the canopy not only looked refreshed but was left operating correctly too.
Awning Recovers – A Cost-Effective Way to Refresh Existing Shading
If an existing awning or Dutch canopy frame remains in good condition, recovering it can be a practical and cost effective alternative to complete replacement. New fabric can dramatically transform the appearance of an older awning, while worn components such as cords, wheels and other operating parts can also be replaced where required. This Cobham project is a perfect example of how new awnings and existing solar shading can be combined to achieve a cohesive, high quality finished appearance.
